The Peugeot 508 HYbrid4 has become the French manufacturer’s third diesel-electric vehicle, offering Prius-beating economy from a large family-sized sedan. The 508 HYbrid4 joins the 3008 HYbrid4 compact crossover and the off-road-themed 508 RXH wagon, with orders for the frugal sedan now being taken in Europe. The 508 HYbrid4 shares its diesel-electric powertrain with its hybrid siblings.
A 120kW/300Nm 2.0-litre engine powers the front wheels while a 27kW/200Nm electric motor is mounted on the rear axle, providing a maximum combined output of 147kW of power and 450Nm of torque. The set-up allows 508 HYbrid4 owners to select between four drive modes: Auto, Sport, 4WD and ZEV (100 per cent electric).
