Volkswagen is set to unveil a roofless version of the E-Bugster concept at this week’s Beijing Motor Show, previewing the look of the new Beetle Speedster. As with the original E-Bugster coupe, seen at the Detroit Motor Show, the open-top car remains strictly a two-seater, powered by an 85kW electric motor and a 28kWh lithium-ion battery.
It promises to cover 0-62mph in 10.8 seconds. Volkswagen claims a range of 110 miles from a full charge, and a quick-charging system should give a ‘refill’ in only 35 minutes.
